There will be no win in 2008

By:  Sandra Price

How on earth can America survive with the two party choices being presented in November 2008?  Do Americans even know what they want in the way of a President?  How many times have we elected men completely incompetent to handle the White House, our federal government divisions, our foreign nation problems and not try to degrade the American people’s freedoms found in our Bill of Rights?  Are we talking about a 90% failure on these actions?

Have these issues been swept away by the religious right’s determination to add the Prohibitions* into our Constitution just to stop abortions and gay marriages?

*Prohibitions:  a ban on abortions, a ban on gay marriages, a ban on stem cell research and a ban on end of life choices.

If the American people really want to ban abortions, will they be willing to stop getting girls pregnant?  Will the heads of the household promise to leave their daughters alone?  Will the women take the time to educate their girls on how not to get pregnant and this includes when they go off to college?  When will the Christians stop forcing women to have unwanted children as a form of punishment?

These same Christians consider themselves to be pro-life but only for the unborn.  They raise their sons from childhood and set their minds to give the ultimate sacrifice for America because another Christian in the White House asks them to.  They look to the President to tell them who the enemy is and they jump up to die for the cause.  It is sad that only after this tragic loss do the parents give thoughts as to why their boys have to give their lives for one man’s selfish building of a legacy.

Both sides of the aisle in our congress started poking Islam in the eye and refused to move our troops after the Kuwait war.  Both sides of the aisle did not pay attention to the warnings from the FBI and CIA and we were hit again; this time on 9/11.  Both sides of the aisle gave the President full powers to go into Afghanistan to destroy OBL.  Both sides of the aisle allowed the President to change courses and head into Iraq because of his hatred for Saddam.  Not a single Democrat stood up to Bush when he claimed Iraq was part of the actions on 9/11.  Only after some of these Democrats wanted the White House did they bravely stand up to the President and in my book they were all too damn late.

Look at the choices we are faced with at this time!  If we elect any politician to replace our President, we should be ashamed of ourselves.  Our House and Senate are filled with greed and a lack of ethics and will have their hands out to any lobbyist who only wants one or two favors.  Our House and Senate are filled with greed and will be paid to promote organizations like Blackwater and those other contractors as well as the terrible FEMA members and they will do it to make a fast buck from the corruption we find daily in our government.  Are we still looking for 2 billion dollars lost in contracts that somebody signed to pay for the buildings in Iraq?

Our current politicians cannot be trusted to run the government and are so partisan that they will protect their members against any crime that has been committed.  Our own President as set the rules of ethics releasing every Republican member of his Administration and gave Congress a free ride on the backs of the tax payers.

There is no person to vote for in 2008 but we have the ability to rip out the current House of Representatives and throw them out like last week’s garbage.  We can do this as every one of them is up for reelection.  Throw the bastards and watch the Senate suddenly grow into honest men and women.  There will be no win in 2008.  But we might be able to tilt the system into making boys into men.
