By: Sandra Price I have been posting on a dozen Atheist sites for years and only recently did I start taking the opinions of others seriously. As a child, the whole story of the New Testament made absolutely no sense to me but I memorized my bible verses and listened to people describe the miracles found in the bible and also among the believers. I apparently asked too many questions and my Sunday school teacher complained to my grandparents who had given up their membership in the LDS years before. It was suggested that I attend another church and wandered down to the Presbyterian a couple of blocks from our home. I loved the music and pageantry but the message seemed weak and illogical. As a child, I lived in our Santa Monica library and when I ran across a book on Evolution it stopped me dead in my tracks. Here were the alternative answers to my questions. Like all other forms of life, humans would be born, grow, breed and then die leaving only our progeny to carry on what we were all about. The older I got the more I read about the origins of the species and I took it as a personal responsibility to improve my own blood line in the same way we bred our horses and dogs. For years I tried to figure out where Jesus Christ came into the picture until about 20 years ago I decided he was a fictitious character put together by tribal leaders to control their members. It answered all the questions for people of faith but left the rest of us asking more questions that could not be answered. I began to do two things that would change my life forever; the first was to read more about the development of homosapiens and to look more closely at humans who were dedicated Christians. Growing today's human being took millions of years of trial and error. In my unscientific opinion, we grew faster in times of survival stress and those of us who managed to survive the droughts and ice ages showed a growth within our brains. Survival became the measure of our success. The greater our brain growth showed us a greater ability to grow as a species. The history of human development hit a glorious height during the times of the Greek Philosophers and the Roman Empire gave us civilizations based on what the human brain was able to develop. Our recent archaeological finds have shown civilizations found all over the world and a terrible realization that once the Gods of the afterlife or underworld got their teeth into the government of these highly developed civilizations, they began to self destruct. Human sacrifices killed off an unknown number of men who would have been grand leaders all over the world. The history of the Gods and the results of their damage nearly broke my heart with the number of sacrifices made to the men who designed and ruled their people through terror and fear. I tend to find my heroes in people who have dedicated their years for freedom. I look at our founding fathers as men who had a dream and worked to fulfill it. I look at men like Bush and Cheney as fools who are determined to level our freedoms so that other men can take advantage of the general public. The problem is that they had to appeal to people who had no intellectual core and were simply followers of anything. After I went on line and found myself communicating with people all over the world, I began to look at the world of Christians. I know the story of why he was born and how he was to die. What I wanted to know was exactly what impact this had on his followers. Why would anyone want to dedicate their life to selling Christian doctrines to total strangers not to mention indoctrinating their own family members into the story? Were they given a quota of new converts before they died as a guarantee they would meet their maker after death? Would accepting Christ as their Saviour make them better people? Would a born-again Evangelical suddenly turn a drunken rotter into a good person? It was during this search that I found a terrible insight to the fact that it often destroyed them as men and women. My fear returned about religion entering the government destroying the individual freedoms as we saw in South and Central America and all through the Pacific Islands where human sacrifices to the gods destroyed their civilizations. From the very beginning of the Christian movement the wars between the Gods destroyed people by the millions. Up to and including the Middle Eastern actions, it has maintained an attempt to destroy Islam and I have no doubt Israel will follow next in line. Whether we want it or not, America has become a Christian nation and we will be at war until Islam decides to destroy us. But I'm more interested in the individual people who call themselves Christians. From a first meeting with these individuals I sense an arrogance that they truly feel that only they know the truth and feel they don't want to waste time with anyone not of their faith. I've tried to bring them into a position of explaining their doctrines and I'm often shut out and told I have no moral values and to go away. They measure worth by a dedication to Jesus Christ and I suddenly realize that these are the people who want the destruction of anything and anyone who are not of their faith. This group has done the unforgivable; they have turned off their rational minds to anything that does not fit in their concepts. From the point of view of a follower of Evolution, this is a shut down of brain development. For over 2000 years a large percentage of homosapiens have limited their expanding brain development. Could this be why our children are no longer motivated to continue their education? Could this be why so many of our children drop out of school, use drugs and refuse to develop their individual talents? Could this be why our last two generations are hooked on television and no longer read the books that give us the insight to human nature? In 2000 we saw a Christian movement take over our White House with a promise of a more moral attitude and a cleaner government. It took what, 2 years, before the selfish corruption was disclosed? President Bush won because he bought the Christian votes by promising unconstitutional prohibitions banning abortions, gay marriages and embryonic stem cell research. It was a Christian appealing to other Christians in hopes of winning the elections of 2000 and 2004. It worked! The hypocrisy of the entire Bush Administration came crashing down on all of us. I tried to warn people of this hypocrisy as I had seen it develop starting with the dumbing down of our academics with our 2 generations of poorly educated Americans. Our voters do not recognize the power within our Constitution and were blind-sided by promises of Biblical laws to be forced on all Americans. The Christian speeches on destroying Islamic Terrorism are as damaging as the human sacrifices made in Mexico. Bush has been given the power to destroy us and he is using the same tactics of the early Gods found right here in the Americas. He calls himself a Christian and his Administration as a God-fearing group of Christians looking after all of us. The American people are buying it! That is what I cannot understand! It is as if we are all tired of our freedoms and want to be put on leashes so we can sit on our butts, drink beer and watch American Idol until somebody discovers we have died. Christians spend half their lives learning about the life of Jesus Christ and not a minute on how to improve the lives of their children or grandchildren. They force feed their kids on bible stories and live in fear that one of them might read "The Da Vinci Code" or another of Dan Browne's books. They do not train their kids to recognize their own instincts for survival and use the old fear tactics that the devil will get them if they sin. The greatest sin that I can recognize is for the Religious Right to get into the White House and explain to the American people that they speak for God. The saddest part of my old age is to recognize that the American people are buying it. It took the internet to confirm my suspicions that Christians are destroying the human species by shutting down brain development; something that has been growing in our species for several thousand years. Is it to late to stop it? I am not a scientist just an observer of people around me and on the internet. I have come to the conclusion that I do not like or trust Christians and feel we are doomed by their self-imposed power in our governments all over the world. We will have to fight it out with Islam in the long run because neither group of ignorant believers will give an inch on God. If I have any message to pass down to my family it will be not to fall into the pattern of which God is superior to another. The Christians can't win this one because they have lost their survival instincts and would rather die than think. |
