By: Sandra Price I
am very troubled about two issues being debated, discussed and in the
center of most political arguments. I
am the first to agree with the consensus of opinion that the morals and
behavioral actions of many Americans are nearly unacceptable to the
majority of the citizens of our land.
How we approach correction is the problem, and is it our duty do to
so? One
fact that troubles many members of the religious right is that 50% of all
marriages fail. If the facts
were known, many fail over and over again and some members of the most
religious groups are married more than once, twice or even more.
Is it the “institution” of marriage that they want or a bonding
for life with one person? How
is it possible for the most pious among us to have a string of ex-spouses
out there somewhere with who knows how many children wandering around?
I’m casting no stones here as I have my own ex-husband and he has
his ex-wives all in a neat row. If
I hear that marriage is a sacred vow between a man and woman one more
time, I will scream! The
agreement is that neither man nor woman will commit adultery! No?
Is this agreement even possible? Here
is where the consensus of opinion comes in.
“EVERYONE KNOWS THAT MEN ARE MORE SEXUALLY AGGRESSIVE THAN
WOMEN.” Like it explains why some married athlete can force himself on
some dumb young blond or some Priest can abuse a young member of this
choir? Somehow
the consensus of opinion also tells us that a marriage between two men
will somehow take the strength out of a heterosexual marriage.
So it is only common sense to ask the head of the family household
(PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES) to ban it!
Don’t just ban it but make it an Amendment to the Constitution so
all homosexuality will be illegal and all our troubles will be over! Instead
of looking at the illegality of a marriage between two men (I’m assuming
someone can find this in the Constitution somewhere) the consensus of
opinion is that it must be legally banned quickly before another heterosexual
marriage goes down the
drain. Show me the logic in
this please!! I
don’t hear this whining coming from the Liberal side of the aisle so it
must be found in the neo con center of activities.
The only course of correction must be to ask Big Daddy Bush to
“DO SOMETHING, AND DO IT NOW!!!”
Oy!
Does
anyone else find this looking to the federal government so solve what the
consensus of opinion tells us is a deadly threat to the American family a
tad off base? Is it
just me, or does anyone else see the social
engineering coming from the White House to make us all just alike, married
and breeding lots more Americans? Does
anyone else see this whole movement to have all single mothers married for
the salvation of our most Christian nation, the least bit valid? Another
problem I see is that the consensus of opinion is entirely different from
the east to the west coast of The
second place where a consensus of opinion can be deadly as well as
inaccurate is the stand on abortions.
Coastal areas or even religious parts of Could
it be that they are in fact performing fewer procedures or are fewer being
charged to the federal government? I
have yet to figure out where the numbers come from on this unless our data
base is deeper and been around for 40 years longer than we knew.
Now that President Bush is pushing for the protection of fetuses
act after promising not to touch the abortion issue, we are suddenly
seeing the consensus of
opinion being screamed from the mountain top that “NOBODY WANTS
ABORTIONS TO BE LEGAL!” I
have yet to meet anyone who promotes abortions!
But I have met very few who want to hand this decision over to the
Federal Government. The
problem with the consensus of opinion on this is that the wrong premise is
being debated. The last
person on this earth who should make this decision is a federal legislator
especially the President of The United States.
Before I hand him this authority I want to know when the last time
he caused a young college student to need an abortion.
See my point? I
don’t want to know this fact at all and so I want to remove his ability
to be a hypocrite! If
this consensus of opinion has any merit then we should rid our selves of
the Could
it be that this is why the Patriots Bill and TIA is being passed in DC.
Will our legislators simply go along with the majority of opinions
found in our individual data base information pages? We could simply ban all marriages and save ourselves a lot of expensive grief. If two people can live together for 15 years then allow them to reap the benefits of being married. What difference does it make what these two people are? If on the other hand, two people want to marry to have children and live under the rule of God, then let them do it! Show me where in the Constitution our legislators have any authority over this matter. |
