The 2006 Elections are Coming!!!
And What Fun We Will Have

By:  Sandra Price

I saw a talk show last night where Senator John McCain's name was mentioned as a possible candidate for President in 2008. It was decided that he could not accomplish this without the backing of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and the Christian Coalition. Neither of these Christian leaders have taken Senator McCain seriously but would if he would bend over and promise them a change in American laws; the same changes that President Bush failed to do, they might just consider him.

But before we can discuss the Presidential race, we must first look at how the House Elections will work out. We saw the power of the Republicans in 1994 when they came up with the contract with America. They took the majority in the congress by bringing in a more fiscally conservative contract and it was a huge win. The problem was that in 2000 this winning group brought in a Social Conservative into the White House and the contract was obliterated under the new social programs.

Hmmm, have we learned to trust Christians in political power or have we learned to question more thoroughly their true agenda? Has the GOP taken on a new agenda in the last 5 years that removed from sight any mention of limited government, individual freedoms and personal responsibilities? President Bush was brought in on the Christian vote for the purpose of eliminating abortions, gay marriages, stem cell research and dozens of other items waiting in line for the law to recognize them as evil sins.

Will his Congress be returned to power next November or will they be sent home and told Americans can live their own lives within the U.S. Constitution without any added moral social laws?

We have many items to discuss before the June primaries and November elections that will determine whether we can live as individuals or as in large groups who wait for our instructions.

I'm no Democrat but I want my individual freedoms out of the hands of the Federal Government. I became a Republican for the freedoms of individual rights, not to be treated like some 3rd rate ignorant follower of a government that has grown beyond the U.S. Constitution. In my own observations of the Republican Party currently in the White House, I have seen sloppy decisions covered up by sloppy lies. The cover up of the 911 Commission Report is an insult to anyone who reads it. It smells the same stench as the Warren Report during the years of the Kennedy killing.

I guess my question is "how stupid do our government officials think we are?" Have they or could they sell us anything they want under the auspices of Homeland Security? Have they convinced us that surveillance is necessary to see if we have connections with Al Qaeda and then turn around and tell us we must keep our borders open to let cheap laborers into America?

I remember reading a book about Hillary Clinton's meetings with the Education leaders when her husband was President. I found a woman who wanted to take over the academic curriculum of all American kids. It would be a one-size fits all of social programs and academics that would influence every child in public school. I shuddered at what I read. Is this what the parents in America want? Do we know enough about Hillary's character to turn over the White House to her? But on the other hand, would the social conservatives on the GOP ticket do anything for America other than keep us in war and under the control of the religious right?

I have never in my many long years seen a worse lesser of two evils. I want to stand up and scream at the top of my lungs "WHERE IN THE HELL ARE THE FISCAL CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS WHO WILL WORK FOR OUR INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS?"

I realize that limited government is a dream of the past and nobody in D.C. wants us to live by our own moral values, and individual responsibilities are to be allocated out by our Legislators. Since we cannot be trusted to lead our own lives, is there not even a rational part of America who is willing to tell the government to go to hell?
